Author Rick Wilton Announces the Release of His New Book, “Every Breath”

MAGNOLIA, TX, July 21, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ — Life rarely unfolds according to plan. Unexpected diagnoses, broken dreams, grief, uncertainty, and seasons of waiting often leave people asking difficult questions about God’s presence and purpose. In his new devotional, Every Breath, retired healthcare executive and author Rick Wilton offers readers a compassionate reminder that even in life’s most unwanted journeys, God remains faithful.

Through honest reflections and biblical encouragement, Every Breath helps readers discover how leaning on God’s Word, cultivating a life of prayer, and embracing the support of others can provide the strength and courage needed to navigate life’s greatest challenges.

“Every one of us will eventually face a journey we never would have chosen,” said Wilton. “My prayer is that readers will discover they are not walking those roads alone. God is present, He is faithful, and He can use even our hardest seasons to deepen our trust in Him and bring glory to His name.”

Rather than offering easy answers or superficial encouragement, Every Breath speaks candidly about the realities of suffering while pointing readers toward the hope that can only be found in Christ. Each devotional invites readers to see how God transforms pain into purpose and uncertainty into deeper dependence on Him.

“Life will present journeys that you don’t sign up for,” Wilton said. “But God can use those very journeys to build your faith, strengthen your character, and teach you to trust Him in ways you never imagined.”

Wilton’s authenticity is what sets Every Breath apart from many devotionals.

“There is no candy coating in this book,” he explained. “I wanted to tell the truth about what it looks like to walk through an unwanted season while holding tightly to God. My hope is that readers see honesty, transparency, and ultimately, God’s faithfulness.”

A retired healthcare executive, Wilton writes from decades of personal experience, drawing upon both professional leadership and his own spiritual journey. His calling to write began more than fifty years ago with a simple but unforgettable conversation.

“My tenth-grade English teacher changed my life,” Wilton recalled. “She asked who had taught me to write, and when I told her no one, she looked at me and said I had a gift. I never forgot those words.”

Although he briefly considered pursuing journalism in college, life took him in another direction. Still, the desire to write never disappeared.

“Looking back, I can see God was planting seeds all along,” Wilton said. “Now I simply want to use whatever gift He’s given me to encourage others to trust Him more deeply.”

For Wilton, writing is more than a creative pursuit. It is an act of obedience.

“If I had to describe my writing journey in three words,” he said, “they would be: inspired by God.”

Like many authors, Wilton has faced challenges along the way, with time being his greatest obstacle. Yet whenever creativity stalls, he has discovered an unexpected solution.

“I don’t really call it writer’s block,” he said with a smile. “I call them my mental health and prayer walks. Every time I step away and spend time with the Lord, He faithfully meets me there.”

Beyond the pages of Every Breath, Wilton hopes readers leave with something much deeper than inspiration.

“I hope they come away believing that no matter what unwanted journey they are facing, God has not abandoned them,” he said. “He is using every step to shape them into who He created them to be.”

A native West Virginian and graduate of Marshall University, Wilton spent his professional career as a healthcare executive before retiring to devote more time to writing, family, and ministry. He has been married to his wife, Sandy, for more than forty years and treasures his role as a husband, father to two sons and two daughters-in-love, and grandfather to six grandchildren.

When he isn’t writing, readers are most likely to find him cheering on his family, walking or hiking scenic trails, relaxing at the beach or mountain camp, or enjoying one of his favorite pastimes: trout fishing.

For aspiring writers, Wilton offers simple but heartfelt advice.

“Do the work,” he said. “Follow the prompting of your heart and the Holy Spirit. Write every day. You never know how God may use your words to encourage someone else.”

At its heart, Every Breath is an invitation to trust the God who remains faithful through every season of life. It reminds readers that while they may not have chosen the journey they are on, they can choose to walk it with confidence, knowing God is using every breath for His greater purpose.
