NASHVILLE, TN, September 16, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ — Two Nashville-area community organizations will receive much-needed support when women representing Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® (AKA) in the South Eastern Region (SER) gather for the Tennessee Statewide Cluster on Saturday, September 19, 2026. The day-long meeting at Mt. Zion Baptist Church —an anchor of North Nashville’s historic Black business, education, and cultural corridor and a vital organizing hub during the civil rights movement—will focus on business matters and initiatives of the nation’s oldest Greek-letter organization established by African American college-educated women.
In keeping with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority’s longstanding legacy of service and community impact, members attending the Tennessee Cluster will participate in the “Little Ones, Big Love” service project. The initiative will collect infant care essentials for babies ages 0-12 months entering foster care and support pregnant and new mothers in need.
Donated items will benefit AGAPE Nashville and Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center, two organizations dedicated to serving vulnerable children and families throughout the Nashville community. Members from across Tennessee are contributing diapers, wipes, bottles, onesies, diaper bags, socks, baby caps, stuffed animals, pacifiers, bibs, pull-ups, and other essential infant care items.
According to South Eastern Regional Director Toni Franklin, the project reflects AKA’s commitment to addressing critical needs in the communities it serves.
“Every child deserves to begin life surrounded by care, comfort, and hope,” said Franklin. “Through our ‘Little Ones, Big Love’ initiative, AKA women throughout Tennessee are coming together to provide essential resources for infants entering foster care and to support mothers during some of life’s most challenging transitions. We are proud to partner with organizations that are making a meaningful difference in the lives of families across Nashville.”
Franklin also noted that Nashville’s welcoming atmosphere and outstanding facilities make it an ideal location for the statewide gathering.
“Our Tennessee Cluster provides an important opportunity for members to conduct the business of the sorority while strengthening our commitment to service,” Franklin said. “We are excited to bring members together in Nashville to fellowship, learn, and create a lasting impact in the local community.”
The Tennessee Cluster is one of three Statewide Clusters hosted by the South Eastern Region in 2026. The region comprises approximately 124 chapters and more than 15,000 members throughout Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee.

AGAPE Nashville serves children and families through foster care, adoption, maternity care, counseling, and family support services. Donations collected through the “Little Ones, Big Love” project will support mothers and babies served through AGAPE Maria House and Dwelling House.
Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center provides healthcare and supportive services to individuals and families throughout the Nashville area, including pregnant women, new mothers, and infants.
