Back-to-school season: When is your school district starting?
Get ready for the 2024/2025 school year! Find out when your school district has its first day
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- While some San Diego County schools are already back in session, several school districts still have yet to start the new school year.
The end of summer is officially here and students are gearing up for the first day of school.
Amid back-to-school shopping and orientations, here is when each school district is going back to school for the 2024/2025 school year:
Monday, August 12
- San Diego Unified School District
- Rancho Santa Fe School District
- Solana Beach School District
- Fallbrook Union Elementary School District
- Fallbrook Union High School District
- Julian Union High School District
Tuesday, August 13
- San Dieguito Union High School District
- Del Mar Union School District
- Encinitas Union School District
- Cardiff School District
- Escondido Union High School District
- Grossmont Union High School District
Wednesday, August 14

While those school districts still have their first day upcoming, several school districts have already gone back to the classroom, with some starting as early as late July -- Chula Vista Elementary School District (July 24), National Elementary School District (July 24), Sweetwater Union High School District (July 24), San Ysidro School District (July 29), and La Mesa-Spring Valley Schools (August 8).
Meanwhile, the little ones can also go to school through free and low-cost prekindergarten programs -- California State Preschool Program, Head Start, Private Pay Preschool and California's Transitional Kindergarten program (TK).
