Barrio Logan Stores Once Again Victims of Serial Burglaries
Barrio Logan businesses, 9 FIVE Eyewear and Arts-Rec Skate shop suffered their newest break in early Monday morning related to a string of robberies.
Two Barrio Logan businesses suffered more break-ins early Monday that are apparently related to a string of other recent robberies.
The stores, 9 FIVE Eyewear and the Arts-Rec skate shop, suffered their most recent break-in early Monday morning.
According to the San Diego Police Department, they received a calll from a security company about the burglary at about 6:23 a.m on Monday.
The suspects had already fled the scene by the time law enforcement arrived, at about 6:30 a.m. Security footage at the storefront showed two suspects working together to pull off the door at Arts-Rec and taking turns to enter the store.
The footage shows that the suspects, both male, appear to have heavily visible patches of vitiligo on their hands. For most of the break-ins, they were wearing gloves, but this time, they did not.
This new information raises suspicions of the suspects being related.
Monday’s loss is currently unknown. Sunday’s robbery, which took place at around 3:54 a.m, was a loss of up to $4,000 in clothing and shoes, said the owner of both stores.
This is at least the sixth time since July 4th that the two men have been seen breaking in and burglarizing both shops. Since the series of robberies started, both businesses have lost approximately $100,000 in merchandise.
Some other damages include a storage building in the back that has been broken into several times since April. Someone also broke all of the business’s front windows and door glass and graffitied other windows.
The owner is currently taking measures to secure his business, and detectives with SDPD are currently working on the case.
