Authorities are investigating after a fire damaged a home in North County early Friday morning.

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Authorities are investigating after a fire damaged a home in North County early Friday morning.

The fire was reported around 6:25 a.m. at a home in the 14000 block of Half Moon Bay Drive.

San Diego Fire-Rescue crews said the fire appeared to have started in the fireplace and extended into the wall of the two-story home.

When crews arrived, they found smoke coming out of the chimney. They believe the flames were confined to the walls of the home, although further investigation is needed.

They told FOX 5/KUSI that all residents of the home got out safely after being alerted by a smoke detector.

No injuries have been reported.
