Many City of San Diego Services Unavailable Monday with Offices Closed for César Chávez Day

San Diego City Hall, administrative offices and many other services will be closed Monday in observance of César Chávez Day.

San Diego City Hall, administrative offices and other services will be closed Monday in observance of César Chávez Day.

Some services will operate as usual despite the holiday, which is officially is Sunday.

The closures include:

  • All city administrative offices.
  • All city libraries.
  • City swimming pools and recreation centers.
  • Public buildings in Balboa Park, including the Municipal Gym, Morley Field and Balboa Park Activity Center (check with individual museums and other park attractions for their holiday schedules). 
  • The Personnel Department’s Testing and Fingerprinting offices.
  • Barrett, Hodges, Lower and Upper Otay and Sutherland reservoirs.
  • Parks and Recreation Department Open Space, Permit Center and Maintenance Assessment District offices.
  • The trash, recycling and organic waste bin sales office.
  • Development Services Department permitting services (but online services will be available, including scheduling inspections, making payments or requesting code enforcement investigations).
  • Your Safe Place – A Family Justice Center (Individuals needing help related to domestic violence should call 888-385-4657 or if experiencing immediate danger, 9-1-1).

City services that will be open or available Monday include:

As far as parking, parking meters, time restrictions for parking on streets, yellow zones and posted street sweeping routes within the city of San Diego will not be enforced on Monday. All other parking violations will be enforced.
