Person found dead near Torrey Pines Gliderport identified by police
One person is confirmed dead after their body was found by San Diego Lifeguards along a cliff near Torrey Pines Gliderport Tuesday, authorities said.
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- The person found dead along a cliff near Torrey Pines Gliderport Tuesday has been identified by the San Diego Police Department Wednesday.
The individual, identified by authorities as 42-year-old Jose Luis Santoyo of San Diego, was hiking with friends to Blacks Beach Park in La Jolla shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday.
According to SDPD, the group was heading from the parking area to the beach when Santoyo lost his footing along the trail and fell about 10 feet to a cliff below.
Despite lifesaving efforts, Santoyo was pronounced dead by first responders onscene.
No further information has been released at this time.
