SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- As of Wednesday afternoon, two more Olympic athletes with ties to San Diego will be bringing home medals from the Paris games.

Australia's Keegan Palmer and Team USA's Tom Schaar nabbed gold and silver, respectively, in men's park skateboarding Wednesday.

This is the second gold medal for Palmer, making him the first skateboarder to win consecutively after his success at the 2020 summer games in Tokyo, in which skateboarding made its debut as an official Olympic sport.

Palmer scored 93.11 at Place de la Concorde, defending his title from the previous Olympic games.

The 21-year old, who was born in San Diego and currently resides in Encinitas, holds dual citizenship in the U.S. and Australia. He switched to skateboarding after learning how to surf at a young age, according to his bio on the official Paris Olympics website.

Meanwhile, Schaar, 24, will be taking home silver with a score of 92.23. The American skateboarder currently lives in San Diego and is a graduate of San Dieguito High School Academy in Encinitas.

His Olympic bio on the website states that he is a 12-time X Games medalist, with two gold, four silver and six bronze.

The wins received praise from pro skater and fellow San Diegan Tony Hawk. In an Instagram post Wednesday, Hawk said, in part, "These two maestros just did some of the best skateboarding I have ever seen in the intense, electrifying setting of Paris 2024."

Brazil's Augusto Akio took home the bronze medal with a score of 91.85.
