Venchi to open first Southern California location in San Diego

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A chocogelateria in San Diego? Yup, you better believe it.

Venchi, an Italian gelato and chocolate store, is coming to Westfield UTC in the University City neighborhood, the company said on its website.

Started in 1878, Venchi offers more than 350 chocolate recipes and 90 gelato flavors.

Some popular gelato flavors include Pistachio, Stracciatella, Hazelnut, Chocoviar, Crema Venchi and Nougatine, while Azteco and Strawberry are both vegan-friendly options.

Chocoviar, Cremino, Suprema Spread, Gianduiotto and Nougatine are some of Venchi's best selling-chocolates.

Venchi has not announced when the UTC location will open at this time.

With over 150 boutiques in more than 70 countries, the only other store location in California is in Santa Clara.
