2 San Diego areas among 'best cities to live in America,' according to Niche

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- You may be living in one of the best cities in America, according to a popular ranking and review site.

A new study by Niche analyzed 230 cities to find the best places to live in the U.S. and two San Diego areas landed in the top 100.

Researchers at Niche assessed the overall livability of cities by taking into account factors like crime rates, housing trends, employment statistics, location, diversity, weather, among several other components. With their findings, a grade is then given to each location.

So which regional cities can claim the bragging rights?

San Diego

Ranking at No. 52 on Niche's list is the city of San Diego itself, which received a solid A as an overall grade. High scoring areas included public schools, outdoors activities, weather, diversity, nightlife, health and fitness.

"Living in San Diego offers residents an urban suburban mix feel and most residents rent their homes," Niche noted. "In San Diego there are a lot of bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and parks.

Carlsbad

Ranking at No. 23 on Niche's list is the city of Carlsbad, located in North County. This coastal city also received an A from Niche's grading. High scoring areas for this spot included public schools, nightlife, diversity, weather, outdoor activities, and being good for families.

"Living in Carlsbad offers residents a dense suburban feel and most residents own their homes," Niche noted. "In Carlsbad there are a lot of restaurants, coffee shops, and parks."
