Driver dies after rollover crash during chase
A driver died Tuesday in a rollover crash during a pursuit on state Route 15, authorities said.
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A driver died Tuesday in a rollover crash during a pursuit on state Route 15, authorities said.
The collision occurred around 7:44 p.m. on SR-15 southbound at state Route 94 westbound, Salvador Castro with the California Highway Patrol said in a news release Wednesday.
A 42-year-old San Diego man was fleeing police in a Toyota Prius when for unknown reasons the driver lost control of the vehicle and overturned, according to CHP. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Driving under the influence has yet to be determined as a factor in the crash.
Authorities shut down I-15 southbound to SR-94 westbound and SR-94 westbound at I-15 southbound during the investigation.
The identity of the driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, is pending notification of the next of kin.
