A young woman was shot in the forearm in a seemingly random attack in Barrio Logan early Thursday morning, according to San Diego police.
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A young woman was shot in the forearm in a seemingly random attack in Barrio Logan early Thursday morning, according to San Diego police.
The shooting occurred just after 3 a.m. The victim, identified as a 20-year-old woman, had been standing at the intersection of Dalbergia and Vesta streets.
According to SDPD, a male suspect approached the woman as she was standing there, produced a firearm and began shooting at her. The suspect then fled the scene prior to officers' arrival. No exchange, dispute or physical altercation occurred prior to the gunshots, SDPD noted.
The victim sustained one non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her right forearm in the shooting. She was transported by ambulance to a hospital for treatment.
An investigation into the incident remains ongoing by SDPD's Central Division Investigations Unit.
At this time, police are working to identify the suspect. He was last seen wearing all black clothing and a black mask, according to SDPD. No additional identifying details about the suspect were provided.
