SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Fans of Girl Scout cookies locally will be getting a slightly different product come cookie season in January 2025. Why? Girl Scouts San Diego has entered into a new partnership with a new baker.
Girl Scout cookie lovers can expect all the same classic cookies, along with new flavor varieties for the 2025 cookie season which begins Jan. 26, 2025 in San Diego and Imperial counties. But those same Girl Scout cookies you know may be a bit different than before.
Here's why.
Girl Scouts San Diego has entered into a new partnership with ABC Bakers, an officially licensed Girl Scout cookie baker since 1937. The products are essentially the same, they are just made by a different baker and have different names.
Girl Scout cookie customers in San Diego and Imperial counties can look forward to a new cookie lineup for the 2025 season:
- Trefoils
- Thin Mints
- Peanut Butter Patties
- Caramel deLites
- Peanut Butter Sandwich
- Caramel Chocolate Chip (gluten-free certified)
- Toast-Yay!
- Lemonades
- Adventurefuls
Eight cookie varieties will be available for $6 per package, while the gluten-free certified Caramel Chocolate Chip is a specialty cookie that will be sold for $7. There will be no s'mores cookies sold in San Diego this year.
Not only will there be new cookie flavors next year, Girl Scouts San Diego's new baker offers five cookies with vegan ingredients -- Lemonades, Toast-Yay!, Thin Mints, Peanut Butter Patties and Adventurefuls.
For those who are gluten free, the Caramel Chocolate Chip cookie is produced in a dedicated gluten-free facility and is certified by the Gluten-Free Certification Organization.
In addition to the vegan and gluten-free options, all Girl Scout cookies produced by ABC Bakers are certified kosher and halal.
Girl Scouts San Diego says ABC Bakers is the oldest and most experienced Girl Scout Cookie baker in the U.S. 100% of proceeds from cookie sales stays in San Diego and Imperial counties.
Carol Dedrich, CEO of Girl Scouts San Diego, was live on FOX 5 Monday to talk more about the new partnership. Watch in the video above.
"The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the world's largest girl-led entrepreneurial program, providing real-life leadership, problem-solving, and community building experience that serves girls throughout their lives," Carol M Dedrich, CEO of Girl Scouts San Diego, stated in the announcement. "By forging a new partnership with ABC Bakers, we will continue delivering on our mission of building girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place, while also prioritizing our strategic goals for the next three-to-five years. ABC has demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting the national Girl Scout Movement, and after thorough research and negotiations, we are confident with the baker's ability to serve our local members and business needs."
While the baker gets ready for the demand from cookie season, Dedrich says Girl Scouts San Diego will begin training cookie volunteers in late fall.
Then the girls will set their goals in December and January just before they head out to meet those goals.
The partnership with ABC Bakers will continue through the end of 2028.
