Hot, humid in San Diego as residual moisture remains for one more day
Severe thunderstorms triggered flash flood warnings in San Diego County mountains and desert communities Sunday afternoon and one day later, chances for storms remain.
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) - Severe thunderstorms triggered flash flood warnings in San Diego County mountains and desert communities Sunday afternoon and one day later, chances for storms remain.
Monsoonal moisture has decreased Monday, but there's enough lingering around that it brings a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon hours, mainly for mountains and Anza Borrego between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Sunday's storms dumped rain in those areas with Julian picking nearly an inch and a third of rain.
We will have to see if daytime surface heating will happen in time to interact with the leftover moisture to produce a storm or two.
Beyond this afternoon, drier and slightly cooler weather in on tap as a troughing patter over the Pacific Northwest sags over the West Coast. This will strengthen onshore flow and push out any of our monsoon pattern the next few days.
The marine layer will also rebuild along the coast each morning with patchy fog becoming more organized and resilient. The cloud cover could hold strong for most of the day Wednesday and Thursday for coastal communities.
Tuesday daytime highs will top out in the upper-70's for the beaches, low 90's for inland valleys, mid 80's for mountains and around 105 for the deserts.
Another warming trend and increase of moisture are favored for the weekend.
