ESCONDIDO, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A North County teacher has been arrested on suspicion of having sexual contact with a minor student, according to the Escondido Police Department Monday.

Police say in July, they received a report of a teacher at Escondido High School having a "sexually intimate relationship with a minor."

Kyiri Tisdale, a 31-year-old Escondido resident, was arrested Friday following an investigation by detectives with the police department's Family Protection Unit, the release states.

Detectives also executed a search warrant at Tisdale's home that same day to search for more evidence.

Police say Tisdale was booked at the SDSO Vista Detention Facility on suspicion of oral copulation with a minor and unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.

The release says during the investigation, the department and Escondido Union High School District have been in communication regarding student and staff safety.

Authorities believe there is at least one additional victim involved in this case. They say neither the first nor the second alleged victims are currently students at Escondido High. Police are also looking for any additional people believed to be victims in this case.

In an email to families, Principal Jason Jacobs said the school is assisting police with its investigation "to ensure that justice is served."

"It is tremendously unfortunate that we begin the school year with this disturbing situation, but I am confident our staff is ready to warmly welcome your student back to campus tomorrow," Jacobs continued.

Tisdale is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities are asking anyone with more information to contact Escondido Police Department at 760-839-4722 or Detective Jesse Santaniello at 760-839-4768 and to reference case No. 24007013.
