ESCONDIDO, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Several people are recovering from injuries after an early morning home invasion in Escondido Thursday, authorities said.
According to the Escondido Police Department, the attack happened around 1:30 a.m. at a residence located on the 1000 block of Camellia Street. Officers arrived within minutes and were confronted by several people fleeing the house and screaming for help.
Authorities said a suspect -- now identified as Jess Martinez -- had climbed through a window and then allegedly threatened to kill six people who were inside the home.
A man and woman were hurt in the debacle, though the nature of their injuries was not disclosed. Police said those inside the home eventually tackled Martinez to the ground and stabbed him in the neck, holding him down until police arrived.
Martinez was treated at the scene. Everyone involved is expected to make a full recovery.
Martinez is on active California State Parole and is a registered sex offender, the department explained. He was arrested and is facing several charges, including suspicion of attempted murder, burglary and assault with a deadly weapon.
