SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A U.S. Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton died during "routine military operations" Tuesday night, military officials confirmed.
The servicemember was pronounced dead at 5 p.m. on base, according to military officials.
Details about what led up to their death were not disclosed, aside from identifying that the servicemember was a part of the Marine Light Attack Helicopter Training Squadron 303, Marine Aircraft Group 39, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing.
Camp Pendleton officials say the death remains under investigation. The identity of the Marine will be released a day after their family is notified, officials added.
