SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- It's about to get a lot hotter in the Gaslamp Quarter as a new spicy chicken restaurant chain makes its way to the San Diego area.
From a cheesy hot chicken sandwich to an original hot chicken in between two Belgium waffles, Houston TX Hot Chicken will be serving its southern-inspired favorites at 238 Fifth Avenue starting on Saturday, Aug. 24.
“We cannot wait to bring our distinct flavors and organic, quality chicken to San Diego,” said Christian & Melissa Couch, the owner of HHC’s San Diego franchise. “We instantly fell in love with the food, the brand, and the vibe, and we knew San Diego would, too. It’s been an exciting journey to bring HHC to one of our favorite cities in the world.”
A grand opening celebration will be held at the new San Diego location from 12 p.m.- 3 p.m. Guests can compete in the restaurant's "“Houston, We Have A Problem” (HWHAP) Spice Challenge Contest," in which competitors can win $1,000 if they finish three HWHAP (HHC’s spiciest level) tenders with a three-minute cool down, meaning no liquid for three minutes.
Houston TX Hot Chicken will operate from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 10:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
