The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County declined a half-cent Saturday to $5.375, after increasing for 31 of the previous 32 days.

The average price increased 43.8 cents over those 32 days, including one-tenth of a cent Friday, to its highest amount since Nov. 2, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 1.4 cents more than one week ago, 40.3 cents more than one month ago, and 44.9 cents more than one year ago. It has dropped $1.06 since rising to a record $6.435 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The national average price dropped three-tenths of a cent to $3.676. It is 4.3 cents more than one week ago and 16.1 cents more than one month ago, but one cent less than one year ago. It has dropped $1.34 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.

“The situation overseas with war in both the Middle East and Ukraine has the oil market on edge,” said Andrew Gross, an AAA national public relations manager.

“But this is also the time of year we may see a bit of a lull in gasoline demand between the end of spring breaks and ahead of Memorial Day so the national average for gas may waffle a bit with small increases, some flat days, and even some price dips.”
