Taste of Little Italy returns to San Diego

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- The neighborhood of Little Italy is set to take visitors on a culinary adventure for two nights in June.

Established in the 1920s, Little Italy is downtown San Diego's oldest continuous neighborhood district, according to its website, and was at one point home to more than 6,000 Italian families.

On Tuesday, June 18 and Wednesday, June 19 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., various restaurants along nearly 50 square blocks will showcase some of their best food and beverage offerings as part of Taste of Little Italy.

Visitors can check in at the Piazza della Famiglia to receive a Taste of Little Italy passport to guide them on their journey. They will be able to check off restaurants as they sample different bites from pasta and seafood to sweet treats like gelato and baked goods.

About 20 restaurants are participating in the two-day event. Seating and live music will be available at the Piazza della Famiglia and Piazza Basilone.

Tickets for Taste of Little Italy are $55 for each day. The Piazza della Famiglia is located at 523 W. Date St.
