SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Two San Diego restaurants lost their Michelin Guide honors this week, while several other local spots in the culinary scene held on to their accolades.

Solare Ristorante

Solare Ristorante, an establishment serving up Italian fare in Liberty Station, was once awarded the Bib Gourmand, which is given to eateries that offer "exceptionally good food at moderate prices." Maybe it's due to inflation or perhaps other factors, but the Michelin Guide has since rescinded this recognition.

Some go-to menu items at Solare Ristorante include the Classic Pappardelle Bolognese ($28), Lasagna Tradizionale ($26), the Margherita Pizza ($17), among other dishes. Check out the full menu online.

FOX 5/KUSI has reached out to the restaurant for comment, but has not yet received a response.

Sushi Tadokoro

In an even bigger blow, Sushi Tadokoro in Old Town was stripped of its one-star recognition, an award the restaurant has maintained since 2021. A single star is given to establishments "using top quality ingredients, where dishes with distinct flavors are prepared to a consistently high standard," according to the Michelin Guide.

Takeaki Tadokoro, the chef and owner of Sushi Tadokoro, took to the restaurant's Facebook page Tuesday to express his disappointment regarding the star's removal.

He stated, "I feel sorry for the people who supported Tadokoro that this happened. I consider this to be a new challenge and in order to overcome it, we will continue to walk the path we believe in and continue to do our best with the heart of providing delicious food. Thank you as always!"

Local restaurants that maintained awards

Four other restaurants in San Diego County were able to maintain their Michelin star ratings for the year. This includes the following:

-- Addison in Carmel Valley, which serves contemporary and California-inspired dishes (three stars).

--  Jeune et Jolie in Carlsbad, which plates a blend of French and California-style cuisine (one star).

-- Soichi Sushi in University Heights, which plates Japanese favorites (one star).

-- Valle in Oceanside, which serves Mexican and contemporary dishes (one star).

Restaurants are re-evaluated on a yearly basis by food and restaurant critics at the Michelin Guide to determine whether or not recognized establishments are still meeting the set standards.
