SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- The North County Transit District (NCTD) has temporarily suspended service between Oceanside and the Santa Fe Depot in downtown San Diego this weekend.

NCTD announced early Saturday morning on X that all weekend coastal rail service -- COASTER, Amtrak and Metrolink -- is suspended between the Oceanside Transit Center and the Santa Fe Depot for routine maintenance and rail infrastructure work.

NCTD says during this temporary service suspension there will be no replacement bus service connecting COASTER station stops.

In addition to the scheduled rail closure, NCTD has also announced several route cancellations Saturday. For the Breeze, the 302 routes out of Oceanside and Vista Transit Centers at 3:45 p.m. were cancelled in all directions due to staffing, NCTD posted on X.

For Sprinter, the westbound departure out of the Escondido Transit Center at 4:33 p.m. Saturday was cancelled due to staffing, NCTD posted on X.

Also for the Sprinter, the 5:33 p.m. eastbound departure out of the Oceanside Transit Center on Saturday was cancelled due to staffing as well, NCTD posted on X.

NCTD says COASTER will return to its regular schedule Monday morning.

FOX 5/KUSI has reached out to NCTD for more information on the temporary closures and staffing issues.

The next rail closures are scheduled for Oct. 12-13, and again Oct. 26-27.
