Westfield UTC floods due to water main failure

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A water main failure Wednesday caused flooding at the Westfield UTC mall in University City.

The flooding occurred earlier in the day off Palm Plaza, Westfield UTC told FOX 5/KUSI in a statement.

"While some stores may be temporarily impacted, the center remains open and ready to welcome guests. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we resolve this matter," the mall said.

When FOX 5/KUSI arrived at the location, a portion of the plaza could be seen taped off with workers cleaning up the area. The pavement appeared to be wet and discolored as well.

Westfield UTC advised customers to contact individual stores to see if their operating hours have been impacted.
