OCEANSIDE, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A new affordable housing property for people experiencing homelessness or on the brink of becoming homeless opened Wednesday in Oceanside.
Greenbrier Village, located at 563 Greenbrier Drive, offers 60 studio and one-bedroom apartments, the County of San Diego said in a news release Wednesday.
The complex also caters to other groups as five of the apartments have been reserved for veterans, three units for young adults aging out of the foster system, nine apartments designed for adults with physical disabilities and six units created for people with hearing and visual impairments, according to the county.
Amenities on the property include a large common room, outdoor recreational space and landscaped community garden, barbecue areas, laundry facilities and private offices for personal meetings. It is within walking distance of groceries, stores, restaurants and the Sprinter rail line.
Physical, mental behavior health and financial services are also available on site.
The County of San Diego claims it has used $310 million for affordable housing, helping open 2,200 units, with 3,300 more on the way, since 2017.
