Coronado students rally to 'stop the sewage'

CORONADO, Calif. (KUSI) -- Coronado students are getting politically active after cross-border sewage pollution has shut down local beaches for a record number of days.
For decades, the sewage crisis was considered an Imperial Beach problem. But it has recently become an issue for Coronado, as well.
A Coronado High School student started the club, Stop the Sewage, last spring.
"Some people might say, this is just some kids protesting. But actually, when I'm back in D.C., talking with the congressmembers, they say, this makes a difference -- hearing from our constituents, the youth, it actually has an impact," Coronado City Councilmember John Duncan said to KUSI.
