Thousands of runners are set to take to the streets for the San Diego Half Marathon & 5K Sunday morning, and drivers planning to be out early should expect road closures.
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Thousands of runners are set to take to the streets for the San Diego Half Marathon & 5K Sunday morning, and drivers planning to be out early should expect road closures.
The 13th annual GOVX San Diego Half Marathon begins at 6:50 a.m. Sunday, while the 5K starts at 6:30 a.m., and takes runners through the Port of San Diego, Liberty Station, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Mission Hills, Hillcrest, Park West/Bankers Hill, and Uptown, ending in the Gaslamp Quarter.
San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria posted on X to expect morning road closures during the Half Marathon. Lane closures for the race will begin at 4 a.m. Sunday and will reopen by 11 a.m., according to the event course map (below).
In addition to the Half Marathon and 5K race, runners can also take part in a Virtual Half Marathon and Virtual 5K.
