Stretch of I-5 in Carlsbad to close Monday night

CARLSBAD, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- All northbound lanes along Interstate 5 between Carlsbad Village Drive and state Route 78 will be closed Monday night, according to a release by California Department of Transportation and San Diego Association of Governments.

The closure will be in effect from Monday at 11 p.m. to Tuesday at 4:30 a.m.

Caltrans and SANDAG say the closure will be in place to allow crews to install overhead signage.

All northbound drivers will need to exit at Carlsbad Village Drive and follow the detour signs to El Camino Real. They can enter the freeway from Vista Way or SR-78.

Residents and businesses may hear construction activity overnight Monday into Tuesday. The work is subject to change due to weather, traffic or other factors.
