SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- The weekend has arrived and it's time to nail down plans. The good news is there are many options for fun and leisure to kick off the month of May.
From food markets and comedy to Renaissance shows and jousting, here are five things to do in San Diego this weekend:
The American Comedy Co. in the Gaslamp Quarters is hosting actor and comedian T.J. Miller Friday night, twice. The first show starts at 7:30 p.m. and the second performances is set to begin later at 9:30 p.m. Miller has been featured on HBO's "Silicon Valley," "Deadpool," The Emoji Movie" and Comedy Central.
Time travel back to the Renaissance period by stopping by this medieval-themed fair in North County. You may want to dress to impress as most attendees will be in costume. There will be handmade crafts for sale, festival foods like giant turkey legs, as well as ales and mead. The event takes place both Saturday and Sunday. It's open to all ages.
This event is for all the foodies out there. There will be over 200 vendors with bites ranging from noodles, dumplings, fried chicken, desserts, and much more. Attend Friday, Saturday or Sunday with tickets costing just $6. There will also be multi-cultural food, games and entertainment for all to enjoy. Come hungry!
Gaslamp Cinco de Mayo Festival
There's no need to wait until May 5 to celebrate Cinco de Mayo as this Gaslamp Quarter festival takes place Saturday. Think "block fiesta" when planning for this event. There will food and drink specials at restaurants, a lowrider show, lucha libre wrestling matches, live Latin music, as well as an array of authentic artisanal goods.
Here's a list of other Cinco de Mayo events in the San Diego area.
Viva La Música at SeaWorld San Diego
This festival is included with park admission all weekend long. A designated area near Manta, the steel roller coaster, will be overtaken with performances by community groups and local musicians. This celebration will also include Latin cuisine and festive décor. Meet and greets are available for those who wish to meet the performers.
Enjoy the weekend, San Diego.
